Holly Cook Macarro, a citizen of the Red Lake Nation, speaks at a rally in support of imprisoned American Indian Movement activist Leonard Peltier.

Peltier, who is Turtle Mountain Chippewa, is serving two life sentences for the murders of two U.S. government agents. Cook Macarro read a letter penned by the activists as speakers called for his immediate release from federal prison.

The rally took place in front of the White House on September 12, 2023. Peltier turned 79 on the day of the event.
