‘He’s my brother’: Suzan Harjo at White House Rally for Leonard Peltier

Suzan Harjo, a citizen of the Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribes and recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom, speaks at a rally in support of imprisoned American Indian Movement activist Leonard Peltier.

Peltier, who is Turtle Mountain Chippewa, is serving two life sentences for the murders of two U.S. government agents. Harjo and other speakers called on President Joe Biden to release the activist immediately from federal prison.

The rally took place in front of the White House on September 12, 2023. Peltier turned 79 on the day of the event.
