• Sen. Brian Schatz (D-Hawaii), the new chairman of the committee, offered a welcome to two new members: Sen. Ben Ray Luján (D-New Mexico) and Sen. Mike Rounds (R-South Dakota)
• Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska), the new vice chair, offers a welcome to Luján and Rounds as well.
• Sen. Maria Cantwell (D-Washington),
Sen. Jon Tester (D-Montana), and Sen. John Hoeven (R-North Dakota) offered brief remarks.
• Sen. Tina Smith (D-Minnesota) and Luján were also in attendance at the meeting.
Actions
• By a voice vote, members of the committee formally approved Schatz as chair of the committee and Murkowski as vice chair.
• By a voice vote, members of the committee approved the rules of the committee for the 117th Congress.
• By a voice vote, members of the committee approved a funding resolution for committee for the 117th Congress.
