Witness list for hearing on Lumbee Tribe federal recognition bill

WATCH: Legislative Hearing - H.R.1964 - Lumbee Recognition Act

The House Subcommittee for Indigenous Peoples of the United States is holding a legislative hearing on Wednesday afternoon.

H.R.1964, the Lumbee Recognition Act, is the only item is on the agenda for the hearing. The bill extends full federal recognition to the Lumbee Tribe, headquartered in North Carolina.

"The state already recognizes the Lumbee community as a sovereign tribe, and Congress should do the same," Democrats who control the House Committee on Natural Resources said in a post on social media.

The hearing takes place at 2pm Eastern in Room 1324 of the Longworth House Office Building. The witness list follows:
