ALBUQUERQUE, New Mexico -- "We like to share with other tribes," Joe Byrd, the speaker of the Cherokee Nation Council, says as he campaigns for Vice President of the National Congress of American Indians, the largest inter-tribal advocacy organization in the United States.

The winning candidates will be sworn in on Friday, the final day of the convention.
