Former leader of Northern Cheyenne Tribe admits to fraud charges

L. Jace Killsback, a former president of the Northern Cheyenne Tribe, has pleaded guilty to federal fraud and conspiracy charges.

In a plea agreement filed on Monday, Killsback admitted he obtained reimbursement for travel from both his tribe and the federal government. He also obtained payments for travel that did not occur.

The activity occurred between 2014 and 2017, according to a criminal information filed on Monday. During that time, he served as the tribe's health director and as president before being ousted by the council.

Killsback is due to appear in court on July 8, KTVQ reported. He faces up to 30 years in prison and $500,000 in fines but federal prosecutors have agreed to ask the court to impose a lighter sentence.
