A "special assistant" to
Secretary Ryan Zinke resigned from the
Department of the Interior after CNN uncovered her racist and bigoted statements posted online.
Christine Bauserman degraded African-Americans, former president Barack Obama, people of the Muslim faith and LGBT individuals, CNN's KFile reported. She handed in her resignation as a result.
"The positions expressed by Ms. Bauserman are inappropriate and unacceptable, and they are not consistent with those of the Secretary or the Trump Administration," a spokesperson for the department told CNN's KFile.
Bauserman isn't the first Trump administration political appointee to face questions about online behavior. William Bradford, the former director of the
Office
of Indian Energy at the Department of Energy, resigned after negative comments about Obama and others were found online.
Bradford claims to be a citizen of the
Chiricahua
Apache Nation and said he served as the tribe's attorney general.
In related Trump team woes, readers of Gail Collins, an opinion columnist for The New York Times, picked Secretary Zinke as the second-worst member of the administration. Scott Pruitt, the head of the
Environmental Protection Agency, was named the worst.
