One reported dead and two injured after shooting on Morongo Reservation

Authorities in southern California are investigating a fatal shooting on the Morongo Reservation.

According to the Riverside County Sheriff's Office, homicide investigators are on the scene after the shooting on Thursday morning. One person is reported dead and two others are said to be in serious condition.

"Right now, we think we have everyone involved detained," sheriff's deputy Mike Vasquez told The Palm Springs Desert Sun.

According to the paper, the shooting took place in an area of the reservation north of Interstate 10. The Morongo Band of Mission Indians operates a gaming facility, an outlet mall and several businesses nearby but the sheriff's office said there were "no threat to public safety."
