The
Morongo Band of Mission Indians distributed 10,000 turkeys as part of its annual Thanksgiving tradition.
The turkeys went out to charities, non-profits and other organizations this week, according to news reports. They will be used to help serve 200,000 meals this Thanksgiving.
“At Morongo, we have always strived to help others, even as our own tribe struggled to survive,” Chairman Robert Martin said in a press release quoted by The Riverside Press-Enterprise.
This is the 32nd year of the tribe's Thanksgiving Outreach Program.
