The Spokane Tribe is among the many communities seeking to host a second headquarters for online retailer Amazon.
The tribe is offering up its satellite reservation in Washington to the billion-dollar company, The Spokesman-Review reported. Chairwoman Carol Evans told the paper that the unique status of the land is attractive for businesses.
“We are a sovereign nation and would hope to be able to provide different opportunities for Amazon,” Evans told the paper.
The tribe's reservation in Airway Heights is located near Spokane. It's already home to a gas station and convenience store and a gaming facility is due to open by the end of the year.
Amazon's first headquarters are in Seattle. The company said it has received 238 proposals for its "HQ2."
