The
Flandreau Santee Sioux Tribe is getting ready to open a new health clinic in South Dakota.
The $13 million
Flandreau Santee Sioux Tribal Health Clinic is scheduled to open on October 6, The Moody County Enterprise reported. The 41,000 square-foot will offer more space for a wide range of medical and dental services, the paper said.
The tribe financed the clinic under a joint venture agreement with the
Indian Health Service. The agency will be responsible for equipment, operations, and maintenance for at least 20 years.
"The tribe must have the funding promised by the IHS appropriated to assure our membership, and all of the non-tribal members that we serve, that we can operate our new facility," council member David Kills-A-Hundred said in
written testimony to Congress in May.
