The Poarch Band of Creek Indians is getting ready to debut the first phase of a huge tourist destination along the Alabama coast.

The amusement park at OWA is set to debut in mid-July. The tribe will be hiring 400 seasonal employees to work at the facility, which features 21 rides.

The first phase also includes a 150-room hotel. That part opens in June.

OWA, which means "big water" in the Creek language, is a 520-acre complex in Foley. Future plans call for a water park, an RV park, additional hotels and housing.
