Gathering of Nations on Facebook: 'Good Morning from GON!'

The 34th annual Gathering of Nations is getting underway in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

The popular powwow -- the largest in the world -- is taking place at Expo New Mexico for the first time. Despite the change, organizers are still expecting thousands of dancers and drummers, along with tens of thousands of spectators, at the event, which runs through Saturday.

And in another first, the powwow has a title sponsor. Ultra Health is a medical marijuana company that has been trying to do business with tribes in the state.

In addition to the powwow, Gathering of Nations includes the Miss Indian World competition, musical performances and an arts market.

The radio show Native America Calling will broadcast live from the event on Friday.
