Federal authorities are investigating two fatal shootings on the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota.

Chunta Suta Win "Annie" Colhoff-Poor Bear was killed on September 29. She was 34.

Vincent Von Brewer III was killed on October 16. He was 29.

While authorities do not think the deaths are related, they believe the victims were targeted for a reason. Some have blamed the shootings on drug trafficking on the reservation.

"Last night they pulled up to the Sue Anne Big Crow Center and shot a kid in the head and it is all over meth, more specifically, the money to be made or lost dealing meth," James Giago Davies wrote in the Native Sun News Today. Brewer was killed at the SuAnne Big Crow Recreation Center.

U.S. Attorney Randolph J. Seiler said the Bureau of Indian Affairs and the Federal Bureau of Investigation are investigating both shootings.

"Authorities do not believe these shootings were random acts, but stem from disputes law enforcement authorities are investigating," Seiler said in a press release.
