The Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe is holding its 50th annual traditional powwow this weekend. The festivities kick off Friday at the Iskigamizigan Powwow Grounds on the west side of Lake Mille Lacs in Onamia. Events include dance contests, a princess and brave pageant, a parade and a basketball tournament. The co-masters of ceremonies this year are Larry "Amik' Smallwood and Pete Gahbow. The co-host drums are Timber Trails and Pipestone. The powwow runs through Sunday.
