Five people -- mostly young members of the Rosebud Sioux Tribe in South Dakota -- were killed in a car crash on the reservation on Sunday.

According to Rich Winters of Panic Button and social media sources, the victims were Jordyn Hespe; Katie LaPointe, 18; Jenna Bad Hand; Kayden White Shield, 23; and her infant son, Bryer White Shield-Bad Hand, 6 months old.

Jenna Bad Hand's four-year-old daughter, Payton Jo, survived the accident but was seriously injured. She is hospitalized in critical condition and has been undergoing surgery, according to a GoFundMe page set up on her family's behalf.

"On behalf of the Rosebud Sioux Tribe, I would like to express my deepest condolences and heartfelt sympathy to the families and friends affected by a horrific accident," President William Kindle said in a statement. "It was very disheartening to hear the recent sad news of young lives taken so soon."

All of the five deceased victims, along with Payton Jo and a seventh person, were riding in the same vehicle when they were struck by another car. The seventh person is in intensive care, the Associated Press reported.

The other car was carrying three women from Wisconsin, the AP reported. Their conditions are unknown, the AP said.
