A man who claimed his girlfriend committed suicide on the Fort Peck Reservation in Montana has been charged with her murder. Delvin Red Eagle, 23, is charged with second-degree murder and use and discharge of a firearm during a crime of violence. Federal authorities say he shot and killed Roxanne Marie Morsette, 25, with a rifle on January 27. Red Eagle initially told tribal police that Morsette had committed suicide, according to news reports. He soon came under suspicion for her death because there was no evidence to indicate his story was truthful. The indictment against Red Eagle was filed May 23. He was arrested on June 15 and he has pleaded not guilty to the charges. Morsette was a member of the Fort Peck Tribes and was a tribal employee, according to her obituary. Her father's family is from the Mandan, Hidatsa and Arikara Nation in North Dakota. Get the Story:
