The Match-e-be-nash-she-wish Band of Pottawatomi Indians, also known as the Gun Lake Tribe, is hosting its 2nd annual powwow next month.

The Sweet Grass Moon Pow Wow will take place July 9 and July 10 at the Jijak Camp in Hopkins, Michigan. The event features a sunrise ceremony, a sobriety walk, a golf tournament, drum and dance competitions and an honoring for veterans.

More than 40 vendors featuring Native food, arts and crafts are also taking part in the powwow. Admission is free of charge but the Jijak Foundation asks attendees to bring non-perishable food items that will be donated to a local food pantry.

The Jijak Foundation is the tribe's non-profit organization that is dedicated to preserving Pottawatomi culture and traditions.
