Vanessa Hernandez, a member of the Mescalero Apache Tribe, is hosting a golf tournament this weekend to raise funds for the Miss United States National Pageant.

Hernandez, 26, won the right to compete in the pageant after winning the title of Miss New Mexico in April. At the time, she said she was excited to represent her tribe on the national stage.

Hernandez works at Inn of the Mountain Gods, a gaming facility and resort owned by the tribe. The golf tournament will be held there on Sunday.

The Miss United States pageant takes place July 30-August 4 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
