The Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians is already one of the largest employers in its region of California and the tribe is looking to grow those numbers with a new information technology business.

The tribe launched Fusion Resource Solutions late last year, The Palm Springs Desert Sun. The company has 42 employees and develops applications and software for the hospitality industry.

"We're still in our infancy," Bill Oliver, the tribe's chief information officer, told the paper. "In five years, I'm hoping that our local market grows with our local partnerships, and we help local businesses grow."

The tribe employs about 2,200 people, the paper said.
