The Osage Nation and the state of Oklahoma have entered into a unique compact.

The tribe and the state agreed to work together to protect vulnerable adults. They will coordinate whenever they become aware of people on Osage land who might need help.

"Both the Osage constitution and Osage culture require us to protect our Osage elders and vulnerable adults,” Assistant Principal Chief Raymond Red Corn said in a press release. “This compact ensures that when Osage people need these services they will be provided by our own Adult Protective Services staff."

The compact, which is the first of its kind in the state, was signed on Tuesday.
