Jim Northrup, an award-winning author, poet and humorist from the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Indians, is ready for his final journey. Northrup, 72, is suffering from kidney cancer that has spread to his lungs, lymph nodes and brain, Forum News Service reported. He attributes the disease to exposure to Agent Orange during his service in the Vietnam War. But Northrup, the author of the popular Fond du Lac Follies column, remains in strong spirits despite his terminal diagnosis. He's following the Ojibwe philosophy of minobimaadiziwin, or living the good life. “I’ll tell you what I think,” Northrup told Forum News Service. “I am going to have a great time over there.” Get the Story:
