Leaders of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians in North Carolina are once again considering a $92 million family-friendly "adventure park" on the reservation. The proposal dates back several years but it hasn't advanced to construction because the tribe has been focusing on other big-ticket items, The Cherokee One Feather reported. Still, elected leaders believe the park could help bring more tourists to the area. “I think it’s something that is very intriguing in concept and idea," Chief Patrick Lambert said at a council meeting on Wednesday, when the project was pitched again, The One Feather reported. No action was taken, though, the paper said. The facility would include a water park, a hotel, restaurants, retail shops, rock climbing areas, ziplines and other attractions. It would most likely be located in Cherokee, where the tribe operates a casino and other businesses and tourist attractions. Get the Story:
