www.lakotacountrytimes.com ROCKYFORD— Until a band makes it big, the struggle of securing enough funds to survive is often a struggle. Although supremely talented, the local band Scatter Their Own, has yet to cash in on their big pay day and looking to the community and their fans across the county to help them take their art to the masses. Scatter Their Own has embarked on their own crowd-funding campaign designed to help the band gather the funds to cover a new touring van that would potentially allow for the band to better promote themselves. “It has always been a dream of ours to own a bio diesel Sprinter Van. We have gone from coast to coast in our Rez Bomb vehicles, meticulously playing Tetris each time we loaded our equipment, said Julianna Brown Eyes, a member of Scatter Their Own. “It has always been our dream to book a tour that is "Green" as possible. Our Lakota teachings have provided us with the foundation we need as a Human Race to take care of Mother Earth,” she added.

The band consists of Scotti Clifford, his wife Julianna Brown Eyes and Scotti’s two children. Despite being relatively new, Scatter Their Own has made huge splash in the world of Native American contemporary music. Their successes in Indian Country has place Scatter Their Own in a position to succeed on a larger stage. According to Brown Eyes the band is currently working on a new album in Los Angeles, Calif after they begin their "Love Your Mother" North American Tour. The immediacy of the tour has amplified the band’s need to acquire a vehicle that can sustain the band through the completion of the tour.

The upcoming tour will take Scatter Their Own’s unique bluesy indigenous sound to tens of thousands of people who have had limited exposure to Lakota people. For Scotti, the bands journey will allow for the band to mature and develop. "Because movement is sacred to our Lakota People, we will finally not only grow as a successful band, but grow in relationship with so many people down the red road,” said Scotti Clifford.
