Federal, tribal and state authorities arrested 22 people last week in a warrant sweep on the Spirit Lake Nation in North Dakota. The effort, deemed "Operation No Sanctuary," took place over 10 hours on December 9, according to news reports. A total of 29 warrants were cleared as the defendants were rounded up on various federal, tribal and state charges. Additionally, the tribe conducted compliance checks on registered sex offenders on the reservation. An investigation into several individuals will continue, Valley News Live reported. The tribe declared a state of emergency in August in response to drug problems on the reservation. A number of people who were arrested were brought in on drug and DUI charges. Get the Story:
