Homer A. Mandoka, the chairman of the Nottawaseppi Huron Band of Potawatomi Indians, has been named to the Michigan Pipeline Safety Advisory Board.

Mandoka will help advise the state on matters related to pipeline routing, construction, operation and maintenance. He is the first tribal representative on the board.

“Michigan’s tribal governments and NHBP play a vital role in the preservation of our states world-class resources,” Mandoka said in a press release. “I look forward to helping ensure our lakes, streams, and rivers are protected for years to come.”

Gov. Rick Snyder (R) created the board in September. The first meeting was held on October 28.
