Coeur d'Alene Tribe promotes one of its own as chief of police

The Coeur d'Alene Tribe of Idaho has a new chief of police.

Sam Abrahamson, a tribal member, was promoted to the position, effective today, according to news reports. He's served on the force for 16 years.

"Sam has dedicated his entire law enforcement career to the Coeur d'Alene Tribe and the the community on and around the reservation," Chairman Chief Allan said in a press release. "He has a deep understanding of our local and regional issues and we are excited to have him as our new police chief."
