The Department of Justice is soliciting new grant applications from Indian Country. The applications for the Coordinated Tribal Assistance Solicitation are due by February 23, 2016. The program allows tribes and tribal groups to consolidate their funding needs rather than submit individual requests to various agencies. “Since 2010, the CTAS program has helped tribes develop their own comprehensive approaches to making their communities safer and healthier,” acting Associate Attorney General Stuart F. Delery said in a press release. “CTAS grants have funded more than 1,400 programs to better serve crime victims, promote community policing and strengthen justice systems." The 2015 CTAS grants were announced in September. Over 100 tribes shared in more than $97.3 million for public safety and victim services on their lands. The 2016 CTAS can be downloaded from DOJ's website.
