Stockbridge-Munsee Band elects Shannon Holsey as president

Members of the Stockbridge-Munsee Band of Mohican Indians in Wisconsin ousted the tribe's top three leaders in an election on October 10.

Shannon Holsey is the new president of the tribe. She defeated incumbent Wally Miller for the post by a tally of 249 to 176, according to the results.

Douglas Huck won election as vice president. He defeated incumbent Gregory Miller by a vote of 193 to 176.

Finally, Janet Miller will serve as the new treasurer. She defeated incumbent Terrie Terrio by a tally of 250 to 187.

Tribal members also elected Joe Miller, Scott Vele, Joann Schedler and Jeremy Mohawk to the council. All previously served on the tribe's governing body.

The leaders were sworn into office on October 20. They will each serve two-year terms on the council.
