The Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma debuted a $10 million expansion at one of its health clinics.

With another 28,000 square-feet, the Wilma P. Mankiller Health Center in Stilwell is nearly double in size. It will offer primary care, lab and radiology services at a facility that saw 120,000 patient visits last year.

"The largest per capita population of Cherokees is right here in Adair County, and while the old Mankiller clinic was serviceable, it was overburdened," Chief Bill John Baker said in a press release. "However, today, with new patient space and better equipment, we can see more people and make those visits faster and more comprehensive."

The facility is named for the late Wilma Mankiller, who was the first woman elected as chief of the tribe.
