The Native American Financial Officers Association opened its fall finance and tribal economies conference on Monday.

The event is being held for the first time in Massachusetts. Leaders and members of the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe and the Aquinnah Wampanoag Tribe were happy to welcome the group to their homeland.

“We wanted Indian Country to come to Massachusetts, to Boston, because Boston is a great city,” Mashpee Chairman Cedric Cromwell told The Boston Globe.

The conference concludes today.
