The Lower Brule Sioux Tribe of South Dakota has a new leader, according one faction. The council chose Lewis Grass Rope as chairman, KELO reported. But not every council member was present at the meeting where the vote took place, the station said. Vice Chairman Kevin Wright had been acting as chairman following the death of Michael Jandreau, who ran the tribe for 36 years, in April. Wright apparently wasn't present for the meeting, which was held off the reservation last week, KELO reported. Get the Story:
