The Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians has acquired a stake in a major development project in Acme, Michigan. The GTB Economic Development Corporation invested in the Grand Traverse Town Center, a 180-acre project that includes retail, housing and commercial components. The size of the tribe's state was not reported. "Investing in the Grand Traverse Town Center development is a natural and strategically important addition to the Band's business interests along the M-72 corridor," David Arroyo, the chairman of the corporation's board, said in a press release quoted by the local media. The tribe is the fifth group to invest in the property, 9 and 10 News reported. A grocery story is due to open there later this year.
