Members of the Klamath Tribes are completing a 250-mile journey to the Oregon State Capitol today.

The Honor the Treaty of 1864 group organized the ride. Participants left Klamath territory last Thursday and will arrive in Salem this afternoon to rally against the Klamath Basin Restoration Agreement, which they say violates their water rights.

“The ride shows the lengths we are willing to endure to exercise our right to be fully heard and understood," tribal member Garin Riddle said in a press release.

The tribe signed onto the agreement to determine river usage and water rights in the Klamath basin. The treaty group believes it fails to address land, cultural and other issues.

Oregon lawmakers approved SB133, the Klamath Water Recovery and Economic Restoration Act, to implement the agreement.
