Walla Walla 2020 will dedicate a new interpretive sign on Friday, the 160th anniversary of the 1855 treaty council. Between May 29 and June 11 in 1855, thousands of tribal leaders and members gathered for treaty negotiations in Walla Walla, Washington. The result was a series of treaties with the Nez Perce Tribe, the Umatilla Tribes, the Yakama Nation and other tribes in present-day Washington, Oregon and Idaho. But the exact location of the council grounds remains up for debate, according to historians. A talk on Friday will be a part of the dedication ceremony for the new sign. Get the Story:
