Authorities in Wisconsin are investigating the murder of a woman who was a member of the Oneida Nation. Krystal Torres-Smith, 39, was found dead on the UW-Green Bay campus early Monday morning. She had been shot multiple times, according to news reports. Torres-Smith was a mother of three. Family members have started a fire as they prepare to put her body to rest later this week. "It represents that message to the community to come around them, to gather around them, to offer that encouragement and to hold them up during this, in this time of challenge," Art Skenandore told Local 5 News. Authorities do not believe Torres-Smith was the victim of a random crime. They continue to search the area on campus where she was found and have extended their work to the water of nearby Green Bay. Torres-Smith lived in Green Bay but it's not known why she was on the UW campus. She was scheduled to attend Northeast Wisconsin Technical College this fall, a relative said. "She was a hard-working lady who was taking great care of her kids," John Pociopa told The Green Bay Press-Gazette. "She was a great person."
