Supporters of the Save Oak Flat campaign will march in Washington, D.C., later this month, Indian Country Today reports.

Last year, Congress enacted H.R.3979, the National Defense Authorization Act. Section 3003 of the 1,648-page package authorizes the transfer of federal land to the foreign-controlled Resolution Copper for a mine at the sacred Apache site.

“Today we are announcing the next step in our battle for repeal, and that’s a march on Washington," Wendsler Nosie Sr., a council member and former chairman of the San Carlos Apache Tribe told ICT.

Details of the march haven't been reported but it's due to take place during the week of June 14.
