Secretary Jewell leads delegation to Indian school in Oklahoma

Interior Secretary Sally Jewell will lead a delegation of federal officials to Riverside Indian School in Oklahoma tomorrow.

The visit focuses on youth issues. Jewell will meet with students and staff and host a discussion about ways to address rural child poverty and improve graduation rates, according to a media advisory.

Jewell will be joined by Assistant Secretary Kevin Washburn, the head of the Bureau of Indian Affairs, and Monty Roessel, the director of the Bureau of Indian Education. Sen. James Lankford (R-Oklahoma), who is leading a field hearing of the Senate Indian Affairs Committee later in the day, and Rep. Tom Cole (R-Oklahoma), a member of the Chickasaw Nation, are also participating.
