The Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma reported a record $829 million in revenues from its business arm in fiscal year 2014. The figure represented an additional $48 million in revenues at Cherokee Nation Businesses. Operating income was $105 million, an increase of eight percent. “We are generating more dollars than ever through our businesses, have more employees than ever working for our companies, and employ more Cherokee Nation citizens than at any time in our history,” Chief Bill John Baker said in a press release. “That prosperity means more money than ever is going back to the tribe to support needed services for Cherokee people. Our employees are to be commended for their hard work and all they do to make Cherokee Nation Businesses a world-class company.” CNB oversees a diverse set of businesses, including several casinos. Revenue was not detailed for those sectors but the tribe secured more than $383 million in federal and commercial contracts, the press release stated. Get the Story:
