An Alaska Native corporation is working with law enforcement in hopes of recovering $3.8 million that was lost in a cyberfraud attack, The Alaska Dispatch News reports.

Afognak Native Corporation fell victim to the attack after someone impersonated CEO Greg Hambright through a fraudulent email. A subsequent phone call resulted in the transfer of the funds to an offshore account, the News reported.

“Please be assured the company is working aggressively to recover funds to the maximum extent possible under law,” Hambright said in a letter to shareholders, the News reported.

The incident occurred last month. Hambright happened to be away from headquarters at the time.
