The Lytton Band of Pomo Indians will be moving forward with some major developments under a land-into-trust agreement with Sonoma County in California. The tribe is already planning a housing development on a 124-acre site that's the subject of a pending land-into-trust application. With the new agreement in place, the tribe will be looking at a 200,000-case winery and a 200-room resort on an additional 800 acres. “This tribe has not had a homeland, ever,” attorney Larry Stidham told The Santa Rosa Press-Democrat. “This will create their homeland for their first time in history, and it will allow its tribal members to pursue non-gaming economic development.” As part of the deal, the tribe will pay $6.1 million to the county for one-time impacts. The tribe will also make payments in lieu of property taxes and hotel taxes for 22 years. The Bureau of Indian Affairs is still working on the tribe's application for the housing site. Get the Story:
