The leader of the Office of the Special Trustee for American Indians will be meeting with tribal leaders and youth in the Upper Midwest next week.

Special Trustee Vince Logan, a member of the Osage Nation, is visiting Wisconsin, Minnesota and Michigan from September 1-3. In addition to meeting with tribes, he will hear from OST's fiduciary trust officers, who work directly in the field with Indian beneficiaries.

“It’s very important that I visit our fiduciary trust officers and their staff,” Logan said. “I’m responsible for each and every one of the OST field employees, so it helps when I get to talk to them in-person to find out how they’re doing and what they need to be successful as well as engage with our beneficiaries.”

While in Wisconsin on September 1, Logan will meet Chairman Brian Bainbridge and other leaders of the Red Cliff Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Indians in Bayfield. He will also visit OST's staff in nearby Ashland.

On September 2, Logan heads to Minnesota, where he will check out OST's operation in Bemidji. The fiduciary trust officer there serves three tribal communities -- the Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe, Red Lake Nation and the White Earth Nation.

Logan wraps up his Midwest trip to Michigan on September 3. He plans to meet with leaders and youth from the Saginaw Chippewa Tribe.
