Derek Bailey, a council member for the Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians in Michigan, has resigned. Bailey, 42, is facing five sexual assault charges involving two underage victims. He was indicted on three counts of first degree criminal sexual conduct and two counts of second degree criminal sexual conduct. Bailey, who was a former chairman of the tribe, has been jailed since his arrest in May. He is being held without bond, The Traverse Ticker reported. Bailey's resignation became effective July 2. The tribal council appointed Tanya Raphael to fill the vacant position. Get the Story:
