Members of the Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska elected three new council members, Kevin Abourezk reported for The Lincoln Journal Star. Two council members resigned after their spending habits were questioned in an investigative audit. The dispute also prompted Chairman John Blackhawk to resign after 20 years of leading the tribe so three seats were open. Those seats will be filled by Tori Kitcheyan, Brian Chamberlain and Jim Snow, who secured the most votes among 25 candidates, the paper reported. The tribe is still proceeding with ethics hearings against three other council members. If any are removed, another election will be held. Get the Story:
