Two people pleaded guilty and one person was sentenced as part of a wide-ranging corruption probe that targets the Chippewa Cree Tribe of Montana. Melody Henry, the former president of Stone Child College, and her husband, Frank Henry, who used to work at the college, pleaded guilty to federal income tax fraud. They admitted they failed to pay taxes on all of their income and will face sentencing on July 27. The guilty pleas came after a federal jury acquitted the Henrys on a variety of other charges after a trial in February. That case centered on alleged kickbacks that the couple had received. In another case, Theodora Ann Morsette was sentenced to one year in prison for embezzlement.She was convicted in January of stealing more than $156,000 from the Rocky Boy Health Board Clinic when she served as its finance manager. Morsette is appealing her conviction, the Associated Press reported. She is claiming she wasn't adequately represented at trial, the AP said. As part of the Guardians Project, the U.S. Attorney's Office in Montana has convicted at least 18 people on the Rocky Boy's Reservation. The effort has put the state on top of a nationwide list of judicial districts with the most government corruption prosecutions. Get the Story:
