Waylon Jason Pumpkinseed, a member of the Oglala Sioux Tribe in South Dakota, ha been charged with child abuse in federal court in North Dakota. Pumpkinseed, 29, is accused of seriously injuring his four-month-old daughter. He told an FBI agent that he squeezed her and shook her on various occasions and dropped her on at least one occasion, according to an affidavit filed in the case. The incidents occurred on the North Dakota portion of the Standing Rock Sioux Reservation. Pumpkinseed's daughter is eligible for enrollment in the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe, according to the affidavit. Pumpkinseed is charged with one count of willfully inflicting bodily injury and one count of assault resulting in serious bodily injury, according to the indictment. In March 2012, Pumpkinseed and his wife were charged in North Dakota court for child abuse involving two other children. Both pleaded guilty in August 2012 but a record of their sentencing was not immediately available online. Get the Story:
