The Half Acre Beer Company will no longer call one of its products by the "Heyoka" name. American Indian Movement activists raised concerns about the name after being alerted to the product late last year. The company wasn't aware of the significance of the Heyoka in Lakota culture. "Recently, some members of the Lakota community reached out with disappointment in our usage of the word and requested that we stop," the company said on Monday. "We didn’t and aren’t going to spend any time defending or explaining our use of the word. We're simply making the right choice and respecting their wishes." The award-winning beer will be known as "Sinita," after a type of cactus found in Mexico and Arizona. Get the Story:
