The Dry Creek Rancheria Band of Pomo Indians in California has a new leader.

Voters elected Chris Wright, 43, as chairman over the weekend. He defeated Salvina Norris, the current vice chairwoman, and Harvey Hopkins, the incumbent who served 10 years in office.

"I think some people just wanted a different direction,” Wright told The Santa Rosa Press-Democrat.

Wright is the head of marketing at River Rock Casino, the tribe's gaming facility.
