The Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe of Massachusetts says it didn't invite a group with ties to the Nation of Islam to Thanksgiving.

Activist YoNasDa LoneWolf Hill organized a "Rez Tour" to Mashpee on November 22, the same day as the tribe's annual Thanksgiving event. A flyer she posted on Facebook and other social media outlets included the tribe's logo.

The tribe, however, said it wasn't aware of Hill's ties to the Nation of Islam. Hill, who has Lakota and African-American heritage, is the granddaughter of Louis Farrakhan, the Nation of Islam leader who has been denounced as sexist, racist and anti-Semitic.

"The initial request to visit came from a woman who represented herself as affiliated with another tribe, not the Nation of Islam," a spokesperson for the tribe told The Falmouth Enterprise. "Therefore, the tribe will not be hosting this group in Mashpee on Thanksgiving,”

Hill and Farrakhan visited the Navajo Nation in July 2006. Hill has subsequently organized "Rez Tours" to the Navajo Nation and to other tribes.
