The Moapa Band of Paiute Indians suffered heavy damage from flash floods that hit southern Nevada on Monday.

Nearly 200 people were evacuated from their homes as the storm hit. Fortunately, no one was injured but it could take months to clean up the reservation, 8 News Now reported.

"We know that these flash floods can be very dangerous, and we've experienced those many, many times," Chairwoman Aletha Tom told 8 News Now.

Gov. Brian Sandoval (R) declared a disaster for Clark County and the reservation. An assessment team plans to meet with the tribe today as a section of I-15 remains closed after being washed away during the storm.

The tribe operates a travel plaza off the interstate and the reservation crosses both sides of the interstate.
